The races of arcanum come in 3 different sizes: Small, Medium and Large. Some are magically inclined,
some are technologically inclined. This page covers all the info on each race.
The Minute Races
The 3 smaller races, these being Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings, are recognizable by the size of their bodies.
The have heads which are larger in proportion to the torso and limbs that one would see in a humans stature.
this means that they have to wear smaller armour in the game.
Almost a million years ago, a huge surge of magickal energy changed, formed and destroyed many species. Some species merged
forming centaurs and manticores. Also, at this time, many species of dragon and sea serpent were made.And some were created
from other races, like giants and elves who were differnt versions of humans. Humans have existed for over a million years
and when this magickal surge occured Elves and Giants were created from Human DNA. 2 of the Races of Arcanum are larger than
the median races, Ogres and Half-Ogres. These are the descendants of giants, which were formed from humans. This means that
Humans and Ogres can breed. Although you cannot start out as an Ogre in the game, you do see ones corpse at the crash site
and you can summon them.
All the median races in arcanum are, in some way, descendants of early humans. The differnce in their evolution is to do with
the presence of magick. Elves were a generation of humans exposed to a high magick presence for a long time.
